MySQL can not start on Mac

While updating mysql server from 5.1 to 5.5 on my macbook pro, I ran into an issue that many people seem to come across

“/Library/StartupItems/MySQLCOM” has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings.

sudo chown -R root:wheel /Library/StartupItems/MySQLCOM

Logout then log back in

All better 🙂
