Mac Create ISO

I needed to make an image of a disk that wasn’t in the default mac ‘.dmg’ format so that I could load it on my proxmox server. After looking around disk utility it appears that there is no way to make a standard ‘iso’ file. Luckily with one command in the terminal you can convert a ‘.cdr’ (DVD/CD master) file to an ‘.iso’ file.

Thanks goes to Jackson Chung for these instructions.

hdiutil makehybrid -iso -joliet -o [filename].iso [filename].cdr

so for my example I typed:

hdituil makehybrid -iso -joliet -o XpHomeSp2.iso XpHomeSp2.cdr

(This assumes that I already changed to the desktop directory ‘/User/Spuder/Desktop’)
